Hij besloot om deze kata te vereenvoudigen tot vijf basis kata\u2019s. Hij noemde deze kata\u2019s Pinan\u2019s. Dit werden uiteindelijk de Heian kata\u2019s van Gichin Funakoshi. De Pinan kata\u2019s vindt men in de Kyonchikin Kai.
